Six Steps to a Lasting Friendship

1.BE A FRIEND: The only way to have a friend is to be one.

2.MAKE TIME TO CULTIVATE A FRIENDSHIP: Friendship, like a flowering plant, needs to be watered and nurtured for it to blossom and that takes time.

3.PAY ATTENTION WHEN OTHERS TALK: When you converse with others, show personal interest in their feelings, encourage them to talk about themselves.

Take the lead in displaying honor to them.

4.BE FORGIVING: True friends are quick to overlook minor failings.

They are loved for their fine qualities so minor faults are overlooked.

Those who learn to forgive keep their friends.

5.RESPECT THE PRIVACY OF OTHERS: Everyone needs some privacy, even your friends.

Use good judgment when expressing personal tastes and opinions on matters, this contributes to a refreshing and welcome friendship.

Avoid possessiveness which can lead to jealousy.

6.BE GENEROUS:Be liberal, ready to share, share encouraging words with others, be free with sincere commendation.

Think about what you can do for them instead of focusing on what they can do for you.

Good list! I prefer few lasting friends than a bunch of friends that come and go.

Thank you Double M! And that’s a wise choice you’re making. While at it, remember to be a friend too 😉

Forgiveness is important too. If one finds it hard to forgive then every speck of misunderstanding will be a cause of break up.
